A Saudi citizen living in extreme poverty published a video complaining about poverty in a country that is the richest Arab country in oil revenues, and one of the richest countries in the whole world.
The Saudi citizen works as a security guard and says I do not have transportation money to come to work, and he does not have a car to move in the desert of his city. He also spoke about an argument between him and the owner of his house over his late rent payment as he does not have enough money for his family.
This Saudi citizen is not an exception, but there are thousands of people in the oil kingdom who live a very harsh life, as -according to official statistics- poverty in the Kingdom in recent years has reached 15%. These poor people have been deprived of the state services and their families, and they do not receive any kind of financial support.
Many people sympathised with the man who had written letters to all relevant authorities to help him live a decent life. He also called everyone who sees his video to support him and stand in solidarity with him.
In his complaint he said that his salary was only 3000 Saudi riyals, but given the increasing prices that hit all sectors of the Kingdom in the recent period, including foodstuffs, house rents and others, would finish the salary on the first day of the month.
The increasing prices and taxes is a policy by Mohamed ben Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince, who relied on the people to make up for the budget deficit, which was a result of the billions he pumped into the open war on Yemen, where he destroyed the people of Yemen and their land, and other billions he paid to Trump to protect him from the oppression of the sons of the ruling family, as well as the billions he pays from the people's money to build the city of his dreams, Neom, while neglecting the development of villages and cities and providing services to citizens.
Saudi Arabia has a foreign reserve of more than half a trillion dollars from oil revenues and it is the richest in the region in terms of foreign cash reserves, however, the poverty rates are on the rises due to the failed economic policies of bin Salman.
According to official reports, the poverty rate in Saudi Arabia has reached 15%, however other concerned institutions confirmed that the poverty rate has reached 25% of the population, as a result the number of people complaining of poverty on social media is increasing.
The poor people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are distributed in many regions, especially in the outskirts of the Kingdom due to the lack of resourcefulness and the lack of income that they can live within the nearby areas, and the villages and cities of the outskirts suffer from a severe lack of services, and neglect by officials, even of drinking water services and infrastructure.
The Washington Post has published reports proving the truthfulness of the narrative of independent economic institutions, which said that the poverty rate has reached 25% of the population, and that between 2 – 4million Saudis live on less than $530 per month, or $17 per day, while the government tried to hide the real poverty rates.
