Awad Moaid, a Saudi citizen known for his dedication to serving people around him and spending his time and money to help those in need. He also helped many of the people of the southern border, especially those whose cars were broken down on the side of the international road linking Najran and Dhahran the South.
One day, while he was standing to provide help to a passerby, he had a severe accident as he was hit by a car from the back. He sustained severe injuries and fractures, which required him to be transferred quickly to Dhahran Al-Janoub Hospital where he had an urgent surgery.
A month after this operation, Awad was transferred to King Khaled Hospital in the Najran region, where he was shocked by the doctors’ decision to urgently amputate part of his right foot for fear of harming the rest of the leg.
Negligence is the reason:
The patient’s father, Awad, accused the administration of Dhahran Al-Janoub Hospital, saying: My son was subjected to severe and serious and unfair negligence by not being transferred to one of the big hospitals, either in the region or the Kingdom in particular. He spent a whole month in that hospital during which they provided him with nothing until his leg was recently amputated at King Khalid Hospital in Najran, the only hospital that responded to us and received the case.”.
The hospital denies negligence
For its part, the administration of Dhahran Al-Janoub Hospital issued a medical report in which it denied neglecting the patient since the first day he was admitted to the hospital, and that the doctors had done what they can to save him. However, the father denied their claims again, as the report of Dhahran Hospital stated: The patient came to the emergency, after being exposed to a traffic accident. He had a vulgar fracture below the right femur, with ruptures of arteries and veins in the lower right thigh, of the ductus arteriosus and the right ductus arteriosus, in addition to crushing adipose tissue and muscles of the left thigh, severe bruising under the skin, and the bone was fixed externally by an orthopedic consultant. An inverted venous link was performed for the right diverticulum artery above the knee, by a consultant vascular surgeon, with a vacuum detonator, and a calf muscle fascia biopsy was performed, due to the formation of the erythroid syndrome in the calf muscles.
Awad's father proves the falsehood of the report
The father of the patient, Awad, denied what was stated in the report, saying: My son had an accident in Dhahran Al-Janoub, when he was serving a number of members of the army, who ran out of petrol, and he was standing between the two cars tying the rope to tow their car.
A car came from behind and hit them, and he was trapped in the middle. He suffered fractures in his leg and cuts in the arteries and veins. He was transferred to Dhahran Al-Janoub Hospital, and an artery transplant was performed for him. He spent about a month in the hospital, and there was medical negligence in the hospital, for their wrong diagnosis and neglect to transfer him quickly.
They procrastinated a lot until his leg was poisoned, corroded, contaminated, and infected with bacteria. When he arrived in Najran hospital he was diagnosed well, and they told us that an amputation was necessary, unfortunately.
Moaid Awad demanded that all those responsible for this negligence and for the amputation of his son’s leg be held accountable. He demanded that his son be compensated and that he be treated and rehabilitated in the best hospitals.
