CIA: Biggest barrier to Saudi-Israeli normalization to be soon resolved

Conversations about the finalization of the normalization agreement between Saudi Arabia and the Israeli occupation took place in secret months ago. These discussions continued despite the ongoing war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people.

International news agencies and politicians have announced the great consensus between the occupation and the Saudi state, led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. However, the ongoing dialogue sessions between Saudi Arabia and the occupation have not resulted in the final announcement of the date for completing the normalization agreement. All that is left is the official announcement by the two governments on a date to complete the agreement.

The two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the only roadblock standing in the way of the normalization agreement between the occupation and the Saudi authorities, according to former CIA Director David Petraeus. He further stated that this condition is unachievable in the near future because of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

It should be noted that, even with official approval, Saudi Arabia offered Israel to finalize the deal by agreeing to the condition of a two-state solution; Israel declined.

According to CNBC’s analysis of the situation, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had declared his opposition to the two-state solution. He claimed that while the idea was novel in the Oslo Accords and received support from a number of international parties at the time, it was never put into practice. Now, however, it is being promoted for the first time.

Netanyahu continued by saying that the two-state solution, which is the subject of most discussion, will benefit Hamas the most since it will allow it to govern a state that is acknowledged rather than a territory that is under siege and marginalized, thereby enhancing Palestinian authority.

Notably, amid growing tensions over the Israeli military operation in Rafah, south of Gaza, it is important to note that on May 14, the Axios website announced that US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan plans to visit Saudi Arabia and Israel at the end of this week to finalize the process of normalization.

The website also stated that as a reward for Saudi Arabia’s official normalization process with Israel, Sullivan is attempting to advance the Saudi-American-Israeli partnership. Additionally, the White House is currently drafting a US-Saudi defense treaty that will bolster the Kingdom’s strength against any threats it may face and include US support for a Saudi civilian nuclear program that will be monitored by the US.

In the same context, the administration of President Joe Biden is attempting to persuade Saudi Arabia and Israel to sign a peace agreement, which the administration views as a winning political card in the US presidential elections that are set for later this year in favor of Biden, even though Biden is aware that Bin Salman strongly supports Donald Trump’s return and the chaos of dictatorship in the region, which has contributed to the destruction of the Saudi Crown Prince’s reputation during his previous rule, whether through his war on Yemen, the siege of the State of Qatar, the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, or the detention of hundreds of activists and youth representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
