The contradiction and double standards are the most prominent feature of all the statements and decisions of those in charge of the Saudi “NEOM” city project.
For example, the tweets that the Saudi “Neom” city project administration published on World Wildlife Day, on the city’s official account, are the best evidence of this contradiction.
The tweet said, “Based on our commitment to #NEOM to pave the way for building a closer and more sustainable relationship with our planet, and to celebrate the World Wildlife Day; get to know some of the most prominent local creatures that roam the deserts of Neom and swim in its waters, which NEOM pledged to protect.”
This statement is strong evidence of the contradiction of the system and its double standards in evaluating matters. The administration has confirmed that its main concern is to protect living organisms, whether animals or birds, from extinction, with an emphasis on preserving them and providing suitable environments for them.
These statements were made while the Saudi authorities are aiming to displace Al-Huwaitat tribe and disperse its members, the Saudi people, whom officials have sworn to protect and take care of their interests.
In fact, the position of the Saudi regime is incomprehensible, as to how could it boast about protecting animals and spending millions of dollars to build reserves to protect them from extinction, while it wages brutal and ferocious campaigns against the sons of Al-Hwaitat.
The Saudi regime, which brags about its defense of animal rights, commits the most heinous crimes and massacres against human beings, against the Huwaitat people, it seeks to displace them, to force them to leave their homes, lands, and the lands of their ancestors, seize their past by force, spoil their present and future.

Al-Huwaitat sons had dreams on this land decades before the announcement of building this city. They planted their wishes on this land before any stone was laid in this project.
The persistence of those in charge of the city in announcing such projects, and allocating a huge budget for it in light of the financial crisi that the Saudi economy is witnessing, means that the regime does not consider the interest of the Saudi people, and only seeks to achieve the dreams of Bin Salman.
Moving forward with the completion of the project, despite the release of the CIA report about the crown prince’s direct involvement in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018, delivers a negative message indicating that human rights are the last thing the Saudi regime cares about and that the only thing that must be preserved in the kingdom is the heir of the throne, his dreams, and his ambitions.
NEOM, despite the promises made about it, will remain an obstacle to respecting human rights in Saudi Arabia, and it will always be the most prominent evidence of the prince’s arrogance and irresponsibility towards his people.
