Eid is joy, tolerance, and mercy. However, these values have no place under Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salaman’s (MBS) rule.
Well-informed sources revealed that MBS has tightened restrictions against political prisoners ahead of Eid al-Adha, preventing them from performing Eid prayers in congregation.
The sources further noted that some detainees are unable to move due to the deliberate medical negligence policy they were subjected to.
The detainees have been subjected to deliberate medical negligence and psychological abuse, which may constitute a deliberate attempt to physically eliminate them, the sources added.
Preachers Salman Al-Awda, Nasser Al-Omar, and Awad Al-Qarni are still held in solitary confinement amid very poor detention conditions.
The preacher Ali Al-Omari is still held in a prison designated for torture run by the Royal Court. It was supervised by Saud Al-Qahtani and is now being supervised by another person who is no less bad than him.
According to the sources, Al-Omari is in a very bad health condition and is permanently shackled.
We have learned that the gastroenterologist, Dr. Lina Al-Sharif, has forcibly disappeared since her arrest in May 2021. Al-Sharif was active on social media and deeply concerned about Saudi politics and human rights issues in the kingdom.
Prominent scholars and Islamic organisations have earlier slammed, in a statement, the persecution of the preacher Salman Al-Awda, Dr. Ali Al-Omari, and other political prisoners in Saudi Arabia.
The statement called on the Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Sheikh al-Awda, his companions, and all political detainees.
The Secretary-General of the Association of Ahl al-Sunnah, Dr. Jamal Abdel Sattar, said that depriving the nation of its prominent scholars and sheikhs is a legal crime and shows hostility to Islam and Muslims.
Saudi prosecutors earlier demanded the death penalty be imposed against Salman Al-Awda, Awad Al-Qarni, and Ali Al-Omari.
Saudi authorities have been engaged in a severe crackdown on individuals who are perceived to be critics of the Saudi government, including human rights advocates, female activists, and scholars, leading to serious international warnings over their fate.
