The French newspaper Le Monde revealed that the majority of the Saudi people reject the crown prince’s vision including Neom City project, in which bin Salman is using the state’s funds to build it amid severe economic crisis in the country.

Le Monde attributed the reasons for the Saudis’ rejection of this project which will be built along the Red Sea at a cost of $ 500 billion, to several reasons, the most important of which is the economic crisis which negatively affected the living conditions of citizens, given the increase of prices of fuel, food, government services, as well as the increase of taxes, reduction of salaries and the declaration of a state of austerity.

The report also mentioned that the societal transformation bin Salman seeks to achieve in Saudi is against the society’s norms and ethics. It also referred to the repressive practices against citizens and preventing them from taking part in NGOs activities after a large number of people got arrested for providing support and relief to Saudi and non-Saudi citizens, which the authorities considered a threat to the national security of the Kingdom!
Neom.. The Displacement of AlHuwaitat Tribe
The newspaper’s report attributed the final reason to the violations committed by the Crown Prince’s services against the people of the Neom area, who belong to Al-Huwaitat tribe.
The authorities arrested a large number of the tribe, after killing Abdul-Rahim Al-Huwaiti, who became known as Neom’s martyr.
Abdul Rahim refused to leave his home and surrender to the Saudi authorities, despite raiding his house with bulldozers and security forces, which prompted Abdul Rahim to publish a series of videos and live streams on Facebook stating that he would not leave his home even if the Saudi authorities killed him, so the Saudi authorities killed him claiming that he was affiliated to armed terrorist groups.
The report criticized the Saudi crown prince of not paying enough attention to fighting the spread of the Corona virus or providing the necessary health care to his people, instead of arresting activist, academic, advocate, or scientist who are against his vision.
The report also referred to the relationship of the Crown Prince with the Zionist occupation state, stating that he is preparing Neom to bring Israeli and Arab companies closer in order to normalize relations between them in the future at all levels.
