The people of Jazan region expressed their anger at the high electricity bills, as bills are rising every time, despite their limited use of electricity in the extreme heat due to the high temperatures, in order to reduce their consumption.
The people in several regions of Saudi Arabia have also expressed their rage at the large number of messages sent to them by the Electricity Company in order to pay, as the company sends 6 monthly messages to their phone numbers, the first 6 days before the bill is issued, the second at the moment of its issuance, the third is the urgency of payment, and the fourth is confirmation urgency, and the fifth is a threat of dismissal, and the sixth is a decision to cut electricity for those who have not made the payment, regardless of their conditions.
Yahya Kariri, a resident of the Jazan region, said: The rise in the electricity bill has become too much and it is no longer acceptable for the citizen to double the value of the bill several times over the past periods.
Kariri explained that his house bill is constantly rising despite his and his family’s keenness to reduce their consumption, yet he was shocked by the value of the bill, which reached 800 riyals, with no justification from the authority. The authorities do not accept appeals to reduce this amount, despite his low salary which a large part of it goes to bill payment in fear of power outages in his house, which would disturb his life.
One of the women of Jazan, Umm Abdullah, a woman who receives social benefits, said that she lives in a local house consisting of 3 rooms, and was surprised by an electricity bill of 600 riyals in one month. She was very disturbed as she does not have this amount of money to pay and she did not use this much electricity, wondered why the electricity bill rises every month?
Abdulaziz Toheri, one of the residents, believes that many residents of Jizan region have the same problem, and they complain about doubling the value of the bills, and they always demand the company to clarify the reasons that led to this huge increase in the value of the electricity bill.
H. Hamdi said that the electricity bill for his house doubled and reaches 700 riyals, and now it has reached 1100 riyals, after it used to reach 400 at its worst.
Abdul Rahman Al-Kadoumi, who said that he was on vacation outside his area, then he was surprised that the value of the bill of 510 riyals, even though he was not at his home during the month, and there was no use of electricity!?
