Bin Salman media promote his projects on a daily basis since he came to power, however, Saudi citizens did not realise any impact of these projects on their lives or on the economy of the country, which raises the question: for whom these projects are being made and why?
Bin Salman does not seek to improve the lives of Saudi citizens, as much as he tries to beautify his image abroad, so all of his projects are actually self focused.
Bin Salman likes to announce new projects from time to time, at unbelievable costs, and perhaps this cost is behind investors’ reluctance to engage in these projects, as they see them as illusory projects with no foundations.
With Vision 2030, bin Salman announced that the NEOM project, the first project on the list of vision projects, will cost $500 billion, which is more than the budget of the Kingdom's sovereign fund.
Soon, bin Salman announced the afforestation project, or the Green Kingdom, worth 700 billion dollars, which is a huge cost that would scare investors from taking this risk.
Among those projects, through which bin Salman is trying to beautify his image, is planting 10 billion trees, to resist and reduce heat emission, and stop the expansion of the desert on buildings, but these attempts cannot make the world forget that he has arrested thousands of Saudi citizens, the killed the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi who was murdered brutally and the kingdom’s women who are oppressed and imprisoned.
10 billion trees, costing 1.5 trillion dollars to protect the earth from heat emissions… Is the Kingdom really able to spend this sum of money while it is already borrowing from other countries? How would this benefit the Saudi citizen in any way?
There is a difference between real and achievable projects, and fake projects that do not exist, and has no effect on the citizen.
