Middle East Monitor: MBS is a Destabilizing Force in the Middle East

The Middle East Monitor website issued an analytical report highlighted the dangers of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman remaining in power in Saudi Arabia, as he constitutes a grave danger to the stability of the Middle East and beyond, and punitive measures must be taken against him according to the website, which also called on the US President Joe Biden to learn from his predecessor Donald Trump's warnings in dealing with Mohammed bin Salman, who used the language MBS understands, to pressure him to implement his policies. The report also mentioned the language Trump used while defending bin Salman after the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, as he mocked MBS saying “I saved his ass.”

The report stated that MBS must be held accountable for human rights violations against political prisoners of conscience, and to end the disastrous war in Yemen, and reform the civil and political system in Saudi Arabia.

The US administration had previously announced that Saudi Arabia is an important partner in global and regional issues, however with the end of 2021, and as the US intelligence agencies believe that KSA is now manufacturing its own ballistic missiles with the help of China, their partnership is in danger and a new policy must be made in dealing with MBS.

It is worth noting that the killing of journalist Khashoggi caused the biggest rift in US-Saudi relations since September 11, 2001. The current US President Joe Biden had promised to make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a pariah state due to its internal and external policies, which had an impact on the human rights at home and abroad, including the heinous killing and dismemberment of Khashoggi, and its involvement in the “the worst humanitarian crisis in the world” in Yemen.

Since the end of his election campaign, Biden's promises have not been implemented, until all human rights and political institutions urged him to warn and impose sanctions on Saudi Arabia to pressure it to respect and follow international human rights standards.
