Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman seeks to control his people through spying on them via an electronic system, in addition to his ongoing crimes against them including arbitrary detention, forced displacement and killing.
The crown prince, whom no one should criticize, considers the Chinese model an ideal once that he should follow to keep imposing his authority on his people.
The Saudi regime has deliberately strengthened its espionage capabilities through a suspicious electronic system imposed on the private sector.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior issued a mandatory order for the private sector to connect to the “Shomoos” electronic system, imposing 13 private sector establishments to link to this system.
This system works on transferring the information of those dealing with private establishments electronically to the National Information Center of the Interior Ministry, including the accommodation sector, car rental offices, the public parking sector, the used furniture sector, and the car repair shops sector.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior also identified 4 violations of the “Shomoos” system ranging between 5,000 to 25,000 riyals.
This decision comes under allegations of helping to maintain security in the Kingdom by transferring data of citizens and residents dealing with the private sector, to the beneficiaries of the security and government sectors, “by using technical and safe systems to reduce the risks resulting from the exchange of information,” claiming that it seeks to spread computer awareness among private sector.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Interior, the system aims to create a unified database for private sector information in Saudi Arabia, and to facilitate the exchange of information between the private sector and the Saudi Interior Minister.
