A conference was recently held by Virginia University in Washington in cooperation with Tactics Institute for Security and Counter-Terrorism and Washington Institute For Defence & Security (WIDS) shedding light on the Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman's “reform vision.”
The conference concluded that Mohamed bin Salman's “reform vision” totally contradicts with his oppressive and brutal policies in the Kingdom.
The event shed light on the global ambitions of Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud and the present and future of US-Saudi Arabia relations.
During the event, Professor of Political Science Bettina Koch dealt with the Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman and its domestic and international dimensions.
She further highlighted the contradiction between the MBS' image as a reformer and his true face as an oppressor.
For his part, Aaron Brantly, Associate Professor of Political Science, shed light on MBS' global ambitions and the present and future of Saudi-Russian relations. He also revealed that the current Ukrainian crisis gave Riyadh a special influence on the world level.
Associate Professor of Political Science, Paul Avey, also dealt with the Saudi Arabia under MBS leadership and the present and future of US-Saudi Arabia relations. Avey pointed out that tensions have occurred between the US-Saudi Arabia relations since MBS became in office, saying that these tensions will affect the future relations between the two countries.
Robert Hodges, Assistant Director of the CEUTTSS, has dealt with MBS' global ambitions, the present and future of Saudi-Chinese relations, and Riyadh’s internal stability in regard to the oil industry.
Along the same line, Yannis Stivachtis, Professor of Political Science and Jean Monnet Chair at Virginia Tech., shed light on the present and future of Saudi-EU relations, stressing the urgent need to deal firmly with authoritarian states such as Saudi Arabia.
