A new accident took place on the Kalakh Sedira Road, 50 kilometers from Taif city, where two people died and others got injured.
Sedira is one of the villages of Saudi Arabia, linked to Wadi Al-Far’a Governorate of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah region. It is located south of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and is approximately 110 km away from it.
This incident renewed the demands of the people of the region to the authorities to intervene and save more lives from further accidents on roads, while expressing their astonishment at the silence of the authorities responsible for the region, despite repeated appeals to find effective solutions to this long-term crisis.
For the past years, people have been demanding the construction of a dual roadway equipped with modern means to reduce the severity of accidents, and to preserve the safety of travelers and villagers.
Khaled Al-Otaibi, one of the residents of the village of Sedira, said: The Kalakh-Sedira road project was adopted years ago by the Ministry of Transport, but it has not yet been implemented for an unknown reason. He expressed his shock at the silence of the Transport Ministry regarding these recurrent accidents.
Bandar Al-Ziyadi, one of the residents, said: I strongly criticize the Ministry of Transport’s ignoring of the road linking Kalakh and Taif, as everyone knows that the large number of accidents on this road is due to the absense a two-way road, in addition to the lack of safety and security measures. This is not a costly project that the municipality is unable to implement to save the lives of people whose blood is spilled every day.
Mishaal Ayed, one of the residents of the area, said: The number of accidents that occur every day is large, and it requires the interaction of a serious administration to stop these recurring tragedies.
It is a simple matter and the competent administration and the transport sector to pave the two-way roads, create speed bumps that force the driver to slow down in residential areas and dangerous intersections. He also called on the police to intensify traffic and security control operations on the road, as the schools will reopen and action must be taken to preserve the lives of students and teachers.
