In 2013, the Governor of Taif, Fahd bin Abdulaziz bin Muammar, honored Al-Sir neighborhood center, south of Taif, on the occasion of obtaining the first rank, out of 16 neighborhood centers in the annual evaluation of the year 1433 AH for the neighborhood centers in the Taif governorate, and for successfully implementing the plan, programs, and events on the population and the development of services in the area.
Today, the residents of Al-Sir neighborhood are complaining about the services provided by the municipality, as they no longer receive services as before, and the municipalities neglect their complaints.
Al-Sir neighborhood has descended from the first neighborhood in Taif, to a neighborhood where services are not available, full of rubbish and waste, no hygiene, wild plants such as acacia, thorns, and dry weeds that are filled with poisonous reptiles, which threaten the residents are everywhere.
Al-Rubaie, a resident of Al-Sir neighborhood, said “The entrance to the main neighborhood is in urgent need of expansion, as accidents occur there daily, especially in the absence of sidewalks that have been eroded over years without maintenance.
Mohamed Al-Otaibi, from the Al-Sir neighborhood, said: The neighborhood lacks the most basic necessities of life due to neglect, which led to the erosion of garbage containers and bins.
He added that the neighborhood has a torrential stream that passes between the houses, and the problem is that cars pass through it while there are no concrete barriers, no traffic lights, or signs to warn residents and passersby of the dangerous slopes of the stream.
The residents of Al-Sir neighborhood of Taif governorate have demanded more than once to for their neighborhood to be looked after and to provide services to citizens, improve the neighborhood as a tourist destination and a residential area.
