NEOM Marks a New Failure .. Its Collapsing Roads and A Failed Trip Of The Minister Of Tourism To It

A video circulated by social media users revealed the weakness of the infrastructure within the governorate of Tabuk, the road leading to the city of Neom, the crown prince's project for dreamers of the world except Saudis.

The roads appeared to collapse and crack after being flooded with water, thus revealing the deteriorating infrastructure. Fears are increasing that the Crown Prince might set a budget to fix it that equals the costs of establishing Neom

Social media users wrote criticising the city of dreamers which will cost half a trillion US dollars, according to Bin Salman’s Vision 2030, while many others shared tweets that the city of Tabuk sank in torrents due to the collapse of the infrastructure and the exposure of its weakness, due to bin Salman’s reluctance to develop the kingdom’s cities as he is busy developing and establishing new cities to serve his interests and desires.

Serious Failure

Since the Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman announced the project of NEOM, it has been facing several crises, as the management of the project under the tutelage of the Saudi crown prince failed to attract capital and investments in the project. NEOM faced certain failure and the loss of billions of dollars in foggy vision of a delusional project in a desolate desert, as described by international reports.

Tweeters also shared details of the trip of the Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khatib to the city of Neom. He had invited a large number of businessmen and foreign and local investors to Neom in order to motivate them to pump their money and start investing in a city on the Red Sea, but no one promised to invest.

Activists attributed businessmen’s fear of investing to the police state of Saudi nowadays, by which they could lose all their investments in any event of dispute, given the ongoing detention of princes and businessmen who had their money taken away under the world’s nose.

Others stated that businessmen did not even promise to invest, in response to calls from human rights organizations to protect the right of Saudi citizens in the region, who had been displaced from their homes and lands with direct orders of the Crown Prince.

The authorities also arrested many of them, and killed a citizen simply for refusing to evacuate his house, as the idea of the Neom project extends over Al-Hawitat tribe’s lands, which they have inhabited for for more than eight centuries.

The Displacement of Tribes

The crown prince is a young man who does not know anything about success, as he works without having a clear scientific vision, nor a specialized team, and he only believes in his opinion, which wastes the kingdom's money, and wasted good opportunities by which citizens could have lived a decent life.
